IDCARE analysts have detected a sharp rise in scam messages impersonating Australia Post.
June has seen 13 times more cases than January and June 2025 is now the biggest month on IDCARE record for AusPost-related scams.

How it works:
You receive a text saying your parcel can’t be delivered due to an “invalid postcode”.
You’re asked to click a link and pay a 35 cent “processing fee” via a fake website.
Some clients who entered their banking details reported attempted withdrawals of up to $1300.
The good news? In most cases reported to IDCARE, banks blocked the transactions before any money was lost.
This scam is part of a global phishing operation known as “Darcula”, designed to impersonate trusted brands and bypass message filters.
